This is a recipe that’s been passed around our family for a few years.  I’m not sure where the original came from, but we’ve tweaked it a bit…  You will be asked for this recipe!  

1 box Devil’s Food cake mix with pudding*

½ cup butter – softened

8 oz. cream cheese or neufchatel cheese

1 tsp vanilla 

Combine all ingredients in an electric mixer.  Roll dough into small ½-inch balls and place on an un-greased cookie sheet (or a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat), gently flatten. 

Bake at 350ºF for 8 minutes.**

*Any cake mix with pudding will work, we just prefer the Devils Food flavor. Use the cake mix as your flour – do not mix it according to the directions on the box. Yellow cake and strawberry are also very tasty.

**Check them early – they are done when they drop from mounding up.

Some people like to toss them in powdered sugar when they come out of the oven, but that makes them too sweet for me. If you want them sweeter, feel free to drop them into a bowl of powdered sugar between the baking sheet & cooling rack.
